I first had Amarena Fabbri cherries in Germany in 1992. I was working on my German degree and staying with a host family. In those days, the cherries were only available once a year which meant they had to last. My host mom carefully counted out the cherries on top of ice cream, Kalte Schale, and other cream-based desserts - but only 3-4 cherries per person! She hid the crock in the house so her kids (and I!) wouldn't sneak them. I loved the cherries so much that my host family gave me the beautiful crock as a keepsake, and I still have it today in my china closet. The cherries & syrup are very rich, but not too sweet. Nothing at all like the supersweet-but-sour cherry pie filling we have in America, and not like our dark cherries, either. The syrup is delectable as a topping all by itself, if you want to stretch out your investment.

5Don't forget Manhattans!Feb 01, 2010
By RFD "Tell it like it is"
These cherries are wonderful for all the uses listed in the other reviews but don't forget about using these to add extra class to Manhattans. We have a couple excellent restaurants/bars here in Scottsdale that use these rather than maraschino cherries and now we're hooked. To make them even better than they are when they come out of the jar, remove about half the syrup (save it for other things) and fill with brandy and/or cognac. After a few days you'll have wonderful brandied cherries which can still be used as ice cream topping etc, but again, a must for those Manhattans--even if you make your Manhattan's with whiskey like we do (Crown Royal even better). I will agree with one other reviewer, it's ashame that Amazon continues to sell these for $5 more than Taylors Market which is where they get them from. I thought maybe the price would even out if you compared them after shipping charges, but they're still about $5 different.

5Taylor's is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!Dec 23, 2009
By P. B. Works
I had originally placed an order for these cherries in the beginning of December to complete a recipie for Christmas day.

Upon receiving the order, I realized tht I might need another shipment.

Placed the order, and did not receive notification of shipment.

Contacted Taylors through Amazon, and indicated that I DESPERATELY needed item by 12/23.

Was contacted by BRIAN who told me not to worry; that my item would be received.

Taylors shipped my item NEXT DAY UPS and it was received WELL in time.

BRIAN at Taylors is BRILLIANT! I recommend this seller Wholeheartedly!

5Wonderful Wild CherriesJan 08, 2011
By P. C. Romaine "coriroma"
I ordered these after tasting a few Amarena Fabbri Wild Cherries while at a DisneyWorld restaurant. Our waiter made such a fuss over these when he described them that we just had to try the dessert. It was one of the best decisions of the day! They were served as a garnish on the side of a nice creamy chocolate dessert, but the taste combination was terrific. They are so unlike marachino red cherries...these are dark burgundy, tart and sweet all at once, in a smooth creamy syrup and a real treat. I can see serving these on top of some vanilla ice cream, on some creamy cheesecake, with chocolate mousse...or just as a treat with a nice peice of dark chocolate. There are soooo many in this jar, that this one will last for quite a while (unless I decide to share them with my friends). I can't even say how happy I am that I treated myself to this splurge!!

4So Good!Nov 19, 2009

These are fantastic mixed with fresh berries and dollop of fresh whipped whipping cream. They kinda taste like medicine when you eat them alone.
