| | | | Home » Pernigotti Cocoa (2.2 Lbs.) | | | | | | | Description: | | One kilo (2.2 pound bag.) This dark, unsweetened cocoa powder is in a class unto itself. Pernigotti, the famed Italian chocolate maker, removes less fat from its cocoa. This wonderful cocoa is lightly Dutch processed and has a touch of real vanilla.
"I've used this cocoa for years and have visited pernigotti in Firenze. I just love it. Wm sonoma doesn't have it online (or in their stores).....so I picked you." thanks, D
This produces a more intense chocolate flavor, ready to satisfy in drinks and desserts, like a rich gelato or a super-fudge brownie. Add Pernigotti cocoa powder to hot milk, and the aroma will transport you to breezy autumn days in the Piazza della Signoria. Perfect for your favorite hot cocoa recipe.
Please note this is a "service pack" and comes sealed in a thick plastic bag for "production" baking. Because the bag is plastic it attracts cocoa to the exterior during packaging. Our regulars know what a great cocoa this is!

Quality Product...good valueJan 08, 2008

This Chocolate can be found at Dean & DeLuca at twice the price. The packaging is a plain plastic bag....but the quality is good. Put some in your coffee or Capuccino for a low calorie treat....at only 30 calories a serving...it seems like an indulgence. Prompt shipping adds to the value.

Super CocoaMar 18, 2008
By D. Linscott According to Cooks Illustrated, this is their highest rated cocoa. I've only made one batch of 'death-by-chocolate' cookies with it so far, but they were extraordinary!!

Pernigotti CocoaApr 09, 2009

Since I have begun to use this cocoa, my family and friends rave about the difference in my baked goods, my chocolate cake has been declared the best they have ever eaten. Recently I baked my chocolate cake with a cheaper dutch cocoa and my husband immediately could tell the difference. Sorry guys, pay the price and enjoy the best!!!!!! Donna

Unbelieveably good.Dec 22, 2008
By LickyLicky I bake. A lot. Everyone looks for my baked goods at the holidays, but no one was expecting the chocolate cake made with Pernigotti. Another reviewer commented about the rich aroma when the bag is opened, and she's right. The cocoa is a beautiful reddish-brown, and has the richest, most delightful smell ever. The only cocoa I found that remotely reminds me of this one is Schokinag. I found this at Williams-Sonoma, but it's priced much better here, even with shipping. The only thing I have to say, to those who are not aware that there is a difference between Dutch Process and regular cocoa, is that you have to either watch the recipes you use it in or find a way to modify the recipe you have. I did the latter for the chocolate cake and it was wonderful. My brownies, which don't need modification came out so perfect that no one could believe that just changing the cocoa made that much of a difference. I would definitely recommend purchasing this product, and had I not bought enough from WS to last the holidays, I would be buying this last one available now. Someone needs to snatch it up quick!

Sinfully DeliciousOct 15, 2008
By Dahne I am a hot chocolate connoisseur and have tried many different cocoa powders and drink mixes. This has to be one of the best I have ever tried. The second you open the bag, the most intense chocolate scent wafts up to you nose. Try that with regular cocoa. I take the powder, add a few of my own spices and then I enjoy it for breakfast all winter. I haven't ever made cookies or anything else with it, but I imagine it would be just as delicious in those recipes as well.
