We've used Starbucks French Roast coffee beans for years, and it's our favorite. Normally I get the whole beans and grind them in the blender a pound at a time, but this product came already ground. It's fresh and aromatic, and tastes wonderful, never bitter. The metallic bags are vacuum sealed to keep the product fresh until opened. The free shipping through Amazon made this a wonderful deal!

If picking a gourmet coffee, here is a framework. East Asian and African coffees are huge and bold and spicy. South American coffees are more smooth and balanced. Europe lands right in the middle
French Roast proves this. This is an extremely smooth coffee, perhaps the silkiest of the bagged Starbucks. It does not have nearly the spice of Sumatra or Ethiopia.
But it does have the body. This is once rich brew, and can stand up to meats and sweet pastry. You won't be knocked a step back, but you will feel the presence with no doubt.

most of this "sale" is for 12 ounce bags instead of the normal 16 ounce bag. Don't know where they are getting the price for the 12 ounces of coffeee, but at my local Starbucks it's what we pay for a whole pound (16 ounces) of coffee

I can buy this at Walmart and many other grocery stores for less than $8/bag. Amazon is charging over $10/bag? WTF?

Great full bodied coffee for anyone who likes a coffee that can stand up to cream and sugar and not be overpowered (unlike a current American favorite that everyone supposedly runs on).
